Website use

The QCDA website is designed with you in mind and we hope that you find it useful and easy to navigate. Like all websites, it comes with terms and conditions of use which you automatically accept from the moment you use our site. We reserve the right to change these terms and conditions and any changes take effect from the moment they are published on our site.

Hyperlinking to the QCDA website

We're happy for you to link directly to pages on our site – you don't need to ask our permission. However, when you make the link, our pages must be displayed in the user's entire browser window rather than loaded into frames on your site. We may withdraw your permission to link to our site at any time.

Hyperlinking from the QCDA website

We want to provide you with as much information on relevant topics as possible, so our website sometimes gives links to other websites where you can read more. If you leave our website to look at material that is not provided by QCDA then you do so at your own risk. Linking to these sites does not mean we approve or recommend them or that we have any kind of relationship with them. We don't develop their content, check their accuracy or review them. We're not responsible for the content of these sites so we don't accept responsibility for damage or losses caused by incomplete or incorrect information they may publish.

We aim to replace broken links to other sites but can't guarantee that these links will always work as we don't have control of them.

We've taken care in creating and updating our website so that you can easily find the information you need about various products and services. We provide this information because we feel it is relevant to you and your job. However we don't endorse all the products or services featured on our website and can't guarantee that they will always be of a satisfactory quality or fit for a particular purpose.

We're always working hard to ensure that our website is running well. However, from time to time we run into problems and services and functions may be interrupted. Sometimes viruses and malicious software can affect the accuracy, reliability and user-friendliness of materials and pages. Therefore we can't guarantee that our site will always be available and working perfectly. QCDA is not responsible for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage that may occur as a result of any of these problems. The same applies to the use, copying or display of the content contained on our website.

These terms and conditions shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales and any dispute arising under them shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Material featured on this site is subject to Qualifications and Curriculum Development Agency (QCDA) copyright protection unless otherwise indicated.

The QCDA copyright-protected material may be reproduced free of charge in any format or media for non-commercial or training purposes only, without requiring specific permission, provided it is  reproduced accurately and not used in a derogatory manner or in a misleading context.  Where any material on this site is being republished or copied to others, the source of the material must be identified and the copyright status acknowledged.

The permission to reproduce QCDA copyright-protected material does not extend to any material on this site which  is identified as being the copyright of a third party.  Authorisation to reproduce such material must be obtained from the copyright holders concerned.

Every effort has been made to trace copyright owners of third party material. Anyone claiming copyright is asked to contact QCDA immediately.

QCDA website

The Qualifications and Curriculum Development Agency (QCDA) website and related web domains collect the following information to support system administration and functionality:

  • web pages log the IP addresses of users, as they are automatically recognised by the web server
  • web pages also use cookies to collect user information to support functionality, for example on web forms accessed by responding to a QCDA email.

If you prefer, you can alter the settings of your browser to stop cookies being installed, although this will affect your ability to submit web forms, surveys and similar content. Further information on cookies and altering your browser settings can be found on the Interactive Advertising Bureau's website at www.allaboutcookies.org/manage-cookies/index.html.

Customer relationship management (CRM) system

Your details reach QCDA directly when you contact us, for example by email, web form, helpline query or event attendance. QCDA also indirectly receives data shared with us by partner organisations in the training and education sector.

Where possible, we store customer information that comes into any part of QCDA in one, centralised customer relationship management (CRM) database. It is accessible to users across QCDA.

We may use your details that are stored on QCDA's CRM system for purposes such as:

  • informing you about events and conferences that we think might interest you
  • inviting you to contribute to consultations, surveys and research
  • sending you email newsletters which are relevant to your area of work
  • sending you emails related to maintaining QCDA data and systems.

QCDA will not hold data longer than needed, in line with the Data Protection Act 1998.
Appropriate data held on QCDA's CRM system may be transferred to future versions of the system, including those owned by successor organisations.

QCDA works with other organisations in the education and training sector. Data held on QCDA's CRM system may be shared with appropriate third parties for their legitimate purposes.

We occasionally carry out mailings on behalf of our partners. In these cases, our partners may supply additional data from their own records, which will be added to QCDA's CRM system. QCDA will make reasonable efforts to check that data against our own CRM system records; however the organisation that supplied the data is responsible for its accuracy.

Email opt out

If you would like to opt out of particular emails from QCDA, please tell us by emailing info@qcda.gov.uk. Your preferences will be recorded on QCDA's CRM system, so that we can exclude you from future emails.

Some of QCDA's communications are a statutory requirement. When this happens, we will not give you the opportunity to opt out.

QCDA Orderline and QCDA (Enterprises) Ltd

QCDA (Enterprises) Ltd, the trading arm of QCDA, sells and distributes QCDA publications. The Orderline website is hosted and managed by QCDA’s mailing house, The Stationery Office (TSO), working under contract to QCDA.

The personal data exchanged over the QCDA Orderline website is encrypted and carried through a secure link to prevent unauthorised access. This information is stored by TSO and is completely separate from QCDA's CRM system. QCDA may use this data to tell customers about new products and services.

Nominating a point of contact

Where you are nominating a point of contact for QCDA, please make sure that they know their contact details will be held by QCDA and may be used for the purposes outlined above.
