I admire the valuable information you offer in your articles. I will bookmark your blog and have my children check up here often. I am quite sure they will learn lots of new stuff here than anybody else!

As to keeping the children engaged, how many are there and what is their age? Have you planned short sessions across the day?
Any help would be great. Thanks

I do p5 made power points on there project on countries and money. They typed up a speach about ther country on word 2007.
I'm a Master's Student looking into potential teaching techniques involving video editing in the classroom (KS1-KS2). I was wondering if anyone out there has used video editing in their classroom before? If they think it has worked, or what was their experience? How did the kids react?
Or if anyone is interested in using as a technique but doesn't know how, and would like to get involved in my work.
Also I am running some out-of-school workshops in this in the Dundee area, and am a little nervous in keeping the kids fully engaged and entertained over a full days period. SO any advice on that would be greatly appreciated!
Anything you can say or give would be much appreciated. Thanks for your time.

I teach ICT in FE (BTEC Nationals) and I'm about to train as a Subject Learning Coach. So I'll be scouring the boards for hints and tips!
For Stop Motion animation I use free software.

The full title of the course is
AQA - GCSE ICT - Course Task 1 - COMMUNICATING AND HANDLING INFORMATION - Specification B - Full course.
I have just arrived at my new school having successfully interviewed for Head of KS3, only to find myself saddled with lots of KS4 and 5 stuff. Not a problem unless, like me, you come from a primary background and were dipping your toes into KS3.
Is there anyone who could point me to some good resources, teacher guides, examplers... ANYTHING!
For what I am about to receive you will never know how grateful I will be.

I'm Chris Snowdon, teacher and lecturer in IT, ICT and Computer Science. Here's a potted history:
I started as a secondary teacher in 1985. I moved into FE at Warrington in 1990 and have since lectured at several FE colleges here in the North-West. In 2000 I left to work in Industry as a system manager (too good an offer to turn down) and I did that for 3 years before the plant was closed down. I then spent some time (and a lot of redundancy money) working as a recording engineer in London and setting up my little home studio here.
I'm now back teaching in FE (at Riverside college in Widnes) where I'm teaching A/S and A2 ICT (AQA). I'm currently putting together the Unit 2 and Unit 3 course materials for the courses, since there was pretty much nothing existing when I started this year as an agency supply. I'm slowly getting to grips with the syllabus but I have to say that I'm not a big fan - too much waffle for my tastes. Still, it's early days.....
I am currently working as a Head of ICT & Business in a secondary school in Northern England. Currently teaching OCR ICT B and AQA Business Communications. Would be great to hear from anyone who teaches these courses and would like to share resources. Also delivering key stage 3 ICT.

Have just applied to do a GTP for secondary ICT and have a school place already - looking forward to the challenge but apprehensive about classroom management.

If you want to take it further to something like Claymation or similar then you basically need a web cam, plasticine and a simple stop frame animation tool some of which are also free on the web. It's very easy to do after that, also can use lego or a whiteboard and marker to make a developing drawn animation, again many examples on youtube to give ideas and explanations of how to do it...

I've just adapted an e-safety policy and AUP and an up to date ICT policy if anyone wants a copy they are more than welcome. Most of it came from BECTA or approved websites and are still in draft form. Would be interested to hear from anyone who has any assessment trackers or APP for ICT. Thanks
