Preparing for interview

Interview answers need to address the question in a succinct but convincing manner. You will have to think on your feet but questions come up, so you can choose some examples and practise answers beforehand. How would you answer these?

  • What would you bring to this job?
  • What will your number one priority be if you get the post?
  • How do you keep up-to-date?
  • Tell us about a critical incident and how you handled it
  • How do you ensure that all children are treated fairly?
  • How do you like to work with parents?

Think about what they are looking for and give plenty of enthusiastic examples of what you’ve done.

You’ll be asked if you have any questions, if you want to come across as bright and proactive have them written down. This isn’t the time to ask about pay or something tiddly so perhaps ask about the school’s professional development. If your questions have been answered during the course of the day/interview, then smile and explain what they were and that they’ve been covered – thank you.
