The velodrome is London's first venue to be completed in the run up to the 2012 Olympics. Use this classroom resource to engage Key Stage 2 English pupils in exploring emotions surrounding the Olympic games through poetry.

The velodrome has taken 2,000 builders two years to finish and is hoped to be the site of many British Olympic achievements.

This primary classroom resource is designed for Year 3 - 6 English lessons. It can be used as part of the accompanying lesson plan, created for Teachers TV, which includes activities and extension tasks based on this topic.

The lesson plan encourages pupils to discuss and write poems about how it might feel to take part in the Olympics.
