After Clare observes Esther's Year 7 history lesson, she highlights some clear areas for improvement, principally spending more time with pupils learning more slowly than others. Esther also takes personal professional development advice from the Teachers TV online community who watch footage of the lesson, which examines the impact of William of Normandy's rule over the English.

Esther then receives one-to-one CPD training on pedagogy from history adviser Michael Riley, who suggests her lesson plan could focus on broader learning questions and shorter, more sequenced activities building in differentiation and extra support.

Voice and communications expert Ulrika Schulte-Baukloh shows how they can engage pupils with individual eye contact and open body language.

Esther then has just three weeks back in the classroom to put all the advice into action before Clare Gillies returns to observe another lesson and deliver her final verdict.

Will Esther raise her game and move from good to outstanding?
