By working in partnership with parents and children, practitioners ensure that children are heard as well as seen. They believe respect for young children, social inclusiveness and the quality of talk, are the bedrock of good listening.

The nursery uses a profile book which focuses on each child's development. It contains memorable events which the child selects to record either by photograph, mark making and scribed writing. Listening skills and reflective conversations are enhanced by this book.

The centre allows children to choose what books they read, helping young children feel empowered and valued as well as allowing quality time for listening throughout the nursery day.

Role play is also used to help children develop language and communication skills in a child initiated, safe environment.
