Richard, managing director of PR firm Spreckley Partners Limited, says school leaders need to recognise that parents are making an emotional choice when deciding which school to send their children to.

All school events are an opportunity for schools to make a connection with their local community, including concerts, sports days and open evenings, and they should consider inviting local press to show off the school in the best light.

Schools should provide parents with copies of their Ofsted reports, create brochures for parents to take away with them, and make sure parents feel happy and inspired about what the school has to offer.
